TIPS FOR BLISSFUL MARRIAGE- ADEWOYIN OLAWUNMI. M
Marital relationships can be very sweet if we take the pains to make it so. When spouses do that little bit and put in that extra effort, what results is a joyful relationship. Here are some tips to help you build a good relationship with your matrimonial partner and enjoy a most blissful marriage.
Honesty: Honesty is the best policy; leading an honest life will be rewarding to you through the relations and connections you keep. Being honest with each other in a relationship brings peace of mind; when you know no matter what, your spouse will tell you the truth it gives you the confidence to stand up and say, "that’s my man, that’s my woman."
Dishonesty and lies really suck; in other words, it makes you start to look at your partner with much disgust and distrust. It becomes really difficult to trust anything he/she says even if it is a genuine mistake. Move forward; let bygones be bygones: Life is not easy as we all face different difficulties and hardships.
A sure way to allow these tragedies to ruin you is to foster them. Many of us carry extra weight from old burdens- literally; that weight becomes apparent as we age: limped walking, hunched shoulders and the like. Wouldn’t it be much easier to just let it go? To avoid allowing unnecessary things to weigh our inner beings lead to a better and more enjoyable life.
Try as much as possible to forgive or pardon your spouse when he/she offends you as the Lord God forgives every one of us. Unburden your spirit and watch the sun shine upon your life. Trust your instinct; it is usually right:
A colleague once said that God created women with something to see farther than men- instinct. Our senses are direct connections between the outside world and our internal bodies. Utilize them as they often yield important information and cues that we often tend to overlook.
Those gut-deep impulses we get are more accurate than you think; learn to listen to your gut feeling when it says; don’t take that trip. Many lives have been saved because someone listened and got off that plane or train to wait 12 hours for the next connection. Tap into your inner strength; you are more powerful than you think:
Often, we imagine power as a man-given title only associated with positions at the job or elsewhere; that isn’t the case at all. Power, in its truthful sense, is the drive that causes us to reach within the inner being, push harder and find results that prove that we are really smart. We use it every day but sadly, minimally; time to change that! Develop your creative abilities by reaching deeper than usual and coming up with ideas that are innovative and intelligent.
We all have the ability to go beyond the ordinary, why not unleash your strength and power today? Save for the rainy day: It’s always good to have a back-up plan. With the curves life throws, it will prove beneficial to be able to hit them face-on with a plan B. It’s also good to save financially- perhaps a bit from each check; experts would tell you that at least six months of rent or mortgage for that rainy day. If you suddenly got laid off work, it is refreshing to gather your family together on the kitchen table and let them know that though you have been laid off, you can still manage to keep a roof over everyone’s head for the next six months.
This means that you have at least 5 months to seek and find another job or start up your own business; this is very comforting. You can put 25% of your check every pay week after you have removed all expenses.
Also, teach your children how to save early; it’ll go a long way during their adolescent years. Enjoy every day of the week: As the clock ticks, time wasted can never be regained but time invested can always be gained. Time is the most precious asset while we are here on earth- why waste it? It is well understood that the hassle of our jobs and schooling, there isn’t time to indulge but with proper planning, we can make the most of our days. Use your spare time wisely: productivity, coupled with a few moments doing something you love makes for a day well spent! Learn to cuddle with your spouse outside in the back deck or just enjoy a glass of wine.
These little pleasures add moments to your life. Let go of anger; it causes undue stress on your heart: Anger is part of our emotional makeup; thus, there are times when expressing anger in a controlled fashion may be appropriate. Consider anger a vicious poison that can and will eat away at the cells in the body slowly but surely; its venom is harvested in the heart but can eroded with a simple release. Whether grudges or disputes, they are not worth your time and attention because they only ruin you.
Do you know that when you are angry with someone, you exert so much energy thinking about what to that person whereas that same person is roaming around caring less whose ox is gored? You lose sleep while he/she gain relaxation; now look at that equation: is it healthy? Avoid letting anger come between you and your spouse as it can really be debilitating to the physical and emotional bodies which in turn can put an end to your relationship.
Forgive and forget and do not allow anyone to steal your joy. Learn to do what you love: You will find that it is a lot easier to work when you are doing things you enjoy. We all wish our jobs could reflect our talents and hobbies but sometimes, that isn’t possible- but why don’t we make that a reality we strive for? Seek to do what you love and create a way to earn a living doing it; do not settle with "getting by" but rather live and enjoy living! Do it for the one you love.
